The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) Scheme which is in the second year of its implementation has set an ambitious goal of covering 50% of the crop area of 194.40 million hectare; the current coverage being at about 25-27%. Whilst, the PMFBY scheme essentially hinges on progressivism, it propels an astronomical increase in the number of activities to be executed on the ground and thereby poses a perennial challenge to the Insurance Companies to continue to be responsive to these evolving changes.
